DMD-Lab projects connect sponsored research, student training, industry collaboration, and community impact.

Our work supports one mission:

Funded Research Projects

DMD-Lab leads and supports funded research in AI-enhanced additive manufacturing, predictive materials design, smart manufacturing, and distribution analytics.

Current project themes include NASA VITAL, biodegradable sensor platforms, LPBF modeling, FFF/material extrusion, recyclable materials, and data-driven manufacturing systems.

Student Research Projects

Students work on research problems that connect modeling, experimentation, materials characterization, data analytics, and real-world validation.

These projects prepare students to publish, present, design, test, and contribute to sponsor-relevant outcomes.

Capstone and Applied Projects

DMD-Lab supports capstone and applied projects that turn classroom learning into engineering practice.

Project areas include additive manufacturing, smart sensing, digital systems, product development, sustainability, distribution operations, and process improvement.

Industry Collaboration Projects

DMD-Lab partners with industry to address practical challenges in manufacturing, quality, materials, operations, and workforce readiness.

Focus areas include digital twins, Lean distribution, operational excellence, process optimization, and data-driven decision support.

Outreach and Workforce Projects

DMD-Lab advances 3D printing education, workforce development, and community engagement through hands-on learning programs.

These projects expand access to advanced manufacturing and help prepare the next generation of technical talent.

How DMD-Lab Projects Create Impact

DMD-Lab projects combine research depth with practical execution.

We connect students, sponsors, equipment, data, and partners to produce validated outcomes with academic, industrial, and community value.
